Going to the UK
Hey yall,
Sorry this took so long, but the cat is out now...
I went over to do a new amp release for Marshall.
Guess you all knew that though.
I flew out last Sunday and got back on Thursday night.
Last summer I played a prototype amp that Marshall was going to produce. It was at Birmingham and the amp designer came and brought the amp for me to try out.
His name is Steve Dawson and the amp he came up with is incredible. Its called the VM, which stands for Vintage Marshall.
Its really the most unique amp I have heard in a long time. It is a big open sound that is kinda like a Plexi Marshall Super Lead on Steriods! Imagine what Hendrix's amps would have sounded like if they had a bit more Gain and punch.
Ill go into more in the Guitar talk section later, but I was asked a while back if I would come do a bit of playing through the amp for some press and distributers. I forgot about the trip but theu called a few weeks ago and said it was on.
So I went and had an amazing time. Got to hang with the man himself Jim for several dinners, breakfasts and even some Snooker!
Well, I was too busy to get to go anywhere else in the UK, but I was nice to be back for a bit.
Sorry I didnt answer while I was there, but I didnt have a good internet at the hotel and couldnt get online.
Speaking of Answering....The Answer were there as well. They played a couple songs. Also the guys from Thunder were hanging and Saxon was there.
Ok take it easy, Doug

Doug will be going to the UK on Sunday.
"Its just a quick trip to Milton Keynes for a few days with Marshall.
They asked me a while back to come over to perform and be a part of the launch of a new amp. The amp is a brand new design and it is really something special so I am happy to be involved.
Its gonna be great to get over there if even for a few days.
See ya DA"

[212] Shaun .. Oct.18.2006 12:15 PMReading this you have probably arrived back from England. (My favourite country).
I hope you had a nice trip and a lovely stay!
What's the new Marshall-sound like?
I sent a comment on your appearance at the latest DIO DVD "Holy Diver" last week and I was so enthusiastic about your guitar-playing that I had to have more of your music! So I tried to find your Solo-Albums or any of your Burning Rain Albums but unfortunatelly they can't be found in the whole city. I found another DVD, though - Whitesnake Live "In the still of the night" recorded in 2004. It was a perfect concert and a brilliant guitar-playing of yours! To me the highlights clearly were "Give me all your love tonight" - "Judgement Day" - Your brilliant solo "Blues for Mylene" and the "Snake Dance"- Blues followed by "Crying in the rain" with a wonderful Solo of yours playing your tigerstriped '58 reissue which I love! The sound was great and switching between neck pickup to bridge picku
It was really fulfilling what I was hoping to hear!!
Do you use the original pickups or did you put in special ones and do you modify your amps? Don't tell me any of your sound secrets but in general I'd like to know. I am a female Rock-singer and I love Hard-Rock and of course guitars so if you'd like to talk about sound please feel invited! Also I really loved "Fool for your loving" and "Here I go again" (it has always been my favourite Whitesnake-song) and the ending with "Still of the night" was just exceptionally wonderful! Your "Black Beauty" has a wonderful tone and you really know how to play it!
Thank you for that DVD!
I am curious to hear more from you and maybe you'd like to answer.
Keep on rockin' and play it loud!
Love
Virginia
