Doug talks about Ronnie James Dio

Hey everyone,
just wanted to say thanks for the encouraging messages and well wishes. I'll make sure to forward them all to Ronnie.
Sorry I haven't been on but didn't really know what to say. It was something that needed to come from Wendy first.

We had rehearsals for the tour right up to the last day before we were schedualled to leave. Then after the last one, we got the news.
Ronnie was there everyday and was in top vocal form as always. But he was having substantial pain in his stomach.

I've spoken to Ronnie a few times this week and he sounded very upbeat considering the diagnosis. Very positive and clear about what he needs to do.
Obviously Cancer of any kind, is a really serious/scarry condition. But Ronnie has always been and extraordinary person and I have total believe that he will beat this and have a successful outcome.

Thanks very much for your support everyone. You guys are very thoughtful and thats gonna help Ronnie.
I'll let you know once I hear anymore news.

Dio Tour is Cancelled

Veteran metallers Dio have cancelled all their upcoming November UK tour dates because of illness.
Ronnie James Dio and co.'s tour was due to start in Glasgow this Saturday (21st November) but the band have axed them at the eleventh hour.
Organisers say the dates will not be rescheduled and refunds will be available at point of purchase.

Dio Guitarist Craig Goldy will be unable to join DIO,
Doug Aldrich will be joining the band - Ronnie James Dio, Rudy Sarzo, Simon Wright and Scott Warren for the upcoming UK/European DIO tour in November/December.

I am going to join the Dio band this winter.

Hi everyone. I hope you all are doing well.
I'm sorry I haven't been around to answer any questions.
I'm happy to say I have been neck high in family business!

I heard there could be some confusion or controversy on the BBS regarding this tour.
It Is true that I am going to join the Dio band in UK/Europe this winter.
I'm very excited and happy to have the opportunity to work with Ronnie again,
but to tell it how it is, I was simply invited as a guest filling in for Craig Goldy.

It was kind of last minute as to why this came about, and I don't have all the details, but I was flattered to be asked.
Ronnie and the guys are friends of mine (and David). Whitesnake and Dio management were able to coordinate
and its all good.

Its an honor and a privilege to work with Dio. They are an awesome band and I look
at playing with them as a chance to challenge myself.

Im not going anywhere from WS, just borrowed for a bit.
Actually, David and I started playing some new ideas on the last tour and I am very happy at home
working on those, as well as the long overdue Burning Rain band material.

Hope that explains the current status.
